BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! Carol Pilon is returning this year with her 1940 Stearman aircraft named Royal Rhapsody. If you can resist the urge to cover your eyes, you will see Carol climb out of the open cockpit aircraft and up on to the top wing of her bi-plane. This is one wild and crazy gal who can always be heard saying “Throttle it up Baby”!
THIS YEAR ONLY! One hundred years ago, on a frozen lake in Nova Scotia, Canada saw it’s first powered, controlled, heavier than air flight. In honour of this important Centennial, the Department of National Defence in partnership with Vintage Wings of Canada has authorized the across Canada tour of Hawk One, a vintage restored F-86 fighter jet painted in Golden Hawks aerobatic team colours. Proudly brought to you by Pratt & Whitney Canada!
CF 18 HORNET........A MUST SEE! Every year the CF-18 demonstration aircraft receives a new paint scheme. Usually it’s just the tail. This year, in celebration of 100 years of powered flight in Canada, the entire aircraft is painted in what is being called the “once in a century” paint design. Don’t forget your cameras!
ENCORE PERFORMANCE! In case you missed him last year, Capt. Brown is returning with his A-10 Thunderbolt II, affectionately known as a Warthog. Why is it called a Warthog? Because it’s an incredibly ugly aircraft, BUT it’s a loud, low flying fast attack jet so in this case, ugly is good!
WHAT AN INSPIRATION! Just six months after becoming paralyzed and losing the use of his legs, Dan Buchanan returned to flying and has since accumulated over 2800 hours of flight time in hang gliders and sail planes. Dan launches himself into the air off the back of a vehicle driving down the runway. Dan, You Rock!
2004 CANADIAN NATIONAL AEROBATIC CHAMPION! After a distinguished military career, Jim is now flying the air show circuit and amazing crowds around North America. If you missed him last year with his Pitts Special, you need to mark your calendars and make a point of seeing him fly his newly acquired Harvard Mark IV. Jim will soon be one of only a handful of civilian pilots authorized to fly in formation with the CF-18!
Northern Aero's! The excitement never stops. From the formation takeoff roll to the land break, audiences will love the combination of formation and unlimited solo aerobatics.
KABOOM! After last year, can you imagine the airshow without pyrotechnics and airshow special effects? Me neither! April Zalesky, Canada’s very own pyro chick, is coming back to Lethbridge this summer and has every intention of blowing stuff up! Tee Hee! We love Pyro!!
