This is a picture of myself and my client Rick. Rick is a crusty old bugger, a client, and a good friend of mine. He has referred business to me over the years, including the sale of his mother's estate house. So one day I was thinking I would like to show him my appreciation for all the support he has given me over the years by getting him some sort of gift.
When I asked him what sort of gift he wanted, he said, "What the hell would I want, Im turning 72 next month, I don't need anything." So I asked him what would be the one thing that he would most want to do or cross off his bucket list in life. He said without hesitation, "The only thing I regret in life is that as a lifelong and diehard fan, I have never been to Cincinatti to watch the Reds play baseball."
So, fast forward a month and Rick and I are driving 200 miles to an airport and taking 3 flights to land in Kentucky and drive up to Ohio to watch some baseball. The coolest part of this trip is that we celebrated his 72nd birthday at The Great American Ballpark. It was my first professional baseball game ever to watch (never even watched one on tv before). We had a blast. I will share more of our adventure, but wanted to share this pic of us at the park.
The lesson here: Treat your clients like family.
